We are very excited to announce significant changes to the Ed Choice Scholarship program! With the passage of the new budget on June 30, 2023, the Ed Choice Expansion program has expanded its eligibility to include every student in the State of Ohio! The expanded eligibility guidelines provide all families in Ohio with an income up to 450% of the federal poverty level to qualify for a full Ed Choice Scholarship to be applied toward your Christ the King School tuition. In addition, families that earn over 450% of the federal poverty level will qualify for a reduced scholarship amount. As income increases, the scholarship amount decreases. In other words, there is no longer a cut-off of household income for the Ed Choice Expansion scholarship and the scholarship is not dependent on your local public school district of residence.

For our Catholic school to financially operate, we rely on the income from three general areas: student tuition, generous donations, and fundraising, and in our case, from the direct support of Christ the King Parish. As a result of this budget bill, the State of Ohio is allowing private schools the opportunity to alter the previously listed tuition for this upcoming academic year. This modification in tuition aligns more closely with the cost to effectively educate each student. The base tuition for the 2023-2024 school year will change from $5,975.00 to $6,165.00. Please know that your out-of-pocket amount will NOT increase with this change.

For the application process, we will need

1. The completed application form (each child needs his/her own application).
2. Proof of address which is a utility statement (electric, gas, water, sewer, cable/internet, NO CELL PHONE BILLS), all pages, with your name and billing and mailing address on it. (Name and address must be listed twice).
3. An OH/ID account that you create on the Ohio Department of Education website in order to download proof of income to the ODE website. We can help you with this process!

Steps 4 and 5 are completed online by you through your OH/ID account. We will email you when this opens up and you are able to complete these steps!

4. Income Verification form (coming soon, when ODE updates the form)
5. Proof of income which would be:

  • your 1040 pg. 1-2 OR
  • 4 most recent pay stubs.
  • (If you are self-employed, you need to submit your entire tax form)
  • You only need to provide income verification once. This is no longer a yearly requirement.

It is expected that the Ohio Department of Education will receive many applications and they will be reviewed in the order that they are received. The Ed Choice offices are closed until the end of July. We are hoping that we can get your paperwork ready so that when they open, you will be able to apply for your scholarship. We are asking that you get the application and proof of address to Miss Rossler (mrossler@cktoledo.org) by July 31st.
