Welcome back to school. We're halfway done already yet so much left to do this year!

 

 

My goal as the school counselor is to get to know all of the students in grades K-8. I will present lessons in all of the classrooms every 3-5 weeks based on grade level. Topics I cover when I go into the classrooms includes: managing emotions, stress, problem solving, communication, assertiveness, kindness/empathy, friendship, study skills, careers and many more. I also conduct small groups on targeted topics throughout the year. Most small groups last 6-8 week and will occur during lunch/recess or a non-instructional time that works for the teacher. I also will meet with students regarding any issues they may want to meet about even if it's just a fun lunch. If you hear your student is meeting with the counselor there's a good chance that I'm just checking in or saying hello.

Grief can be a hard experience for children. If your child is going through a tough loss there are greif support groups in the area. Promedica hospice offeres one in the area the third Wednesday of every month.

 

Current Happenings

Counselor Classroom Lessons for JANUARY:

Careers are the focus of all K-8 lessons for January

Grades 5-8 will be doing career intersest inventories and lifestyle assessments to see what field applies most to their interest and abilties.

 

Career Day is coming!! February 28th from 12:30-2:30 if you or someone you know would like to share about their career with our middle school students please reach out! We're looking for people from all different fields.

 

Small Groups: New small groups will be forming soon for 4th-8th grade. Lunch camp permissions slips for 3rd grade will be going home soon as well.

 

Individual Meetings: I am available to all students as needed. Students are welcome to let their teacher know they would like to meet with me, email me, come find me, fill out the request slip located in my mailbox, or fill out the online request form below (also in their google classroom for 5th-8th graders). I will schedule a time for them to come to my office to meet with me during non-instructional time. If you feel your child would benefit from setting up a time to meet with me I have a link for parent referral request below as well; please fill out and submit the form below.
